Manchester Google Technology User Group

Google Technology User Group

Title: Manchester Google Technology User Group
Location: MadLab
Description: Google Technology User Group in Manchester, England
Start Time: 19:00
Date: 2012-02-06
End Time: 21:00

This month’s upcoming meeting will discuss some proposed changes to the Manchester GTUG group – making it more specific, focused, and more virtual. Rather than try and encompass every Google technology out there (and there are plenty!), it would seem a better idea to be focused on just a few (or even one core one) and concentrate on that. Sort of like a Special Interest Group (SIG).

This would mean: (a) better content, (b) more focused discussions, (c) clarity on coverage (“is it worth me attending?”) and (d) open up opportunities for other Manchester-area people with passionate interests in other Google technologies to run their own SIG, related to but independent of this SIG.

And ‘virtual’? Well while the GTUG will retain “Manchester” as its core identity, the idea is to open it up to people slightly further afield, those that might not be able to make it in to the City Centre on a rainy Monday night, and so on. Google+ Hangouts seem like an ideal platform for that. So we’ll discuss that too.

So please – if you’re interested in shaping the future of the Manchester GTUG, come along next Monday at 19:00, or join us on a Google+ Hangout which we’ll start around 19:15. I’ll tweet details of the hangout nearer the time (via @qmacro and / or @mangtug).

Hope to see you then!
