What is BarCamp Manchester 4

BarCamp Manchester 4 is an open, free-to-attend, participatory 1-day unconference. Unconferences differ from normal conferences in that the schedule is created and filled by the attendees with everyone running a session or talk about whatever subject they have a passion for. From Cocktail Making to Programming for Beginners, from Arduino Hacking to Photography, BarCamps attract people from all sorts of backgrounds, each sharing their expertise and experiences.

How does registration work?

The Registration Desk is open from 9:00am, and is your first port of call when you arrive at BarCamp Manchester 3. Please bring along a print-out of your confirmation e-mail. Your details will be verified and you’ll be given a name badge.

How do the sessions work?

Unlike traditional conferences, the schedule for sessions at a BarCamp are decided by the participants. After the welcome talk, there’ll be a chance for attendees to fill out the schedule grid.

Pick a topic to talk about – you can talk about absolutely anything, previous events have included sessions on HTML, version control and advanced programming techniques; as well as alternative subject matters, such as baking and making the perfect cup of tea! Once you’ve decided on a subject, take a card and place it in your chosen time slot. There are multiple sessions going on at any one time, so try and guess how popular your talk might be, and pick a suitable venue.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand any of the above. On the day, the BarCamp Crew will be on hand to answer any questions you have.

Thanks to our sponsors and supporters, tickets are free. However, the venue is strictly limited in capacity.

Book your tickets here!

There will be no different categories of tickets. We will be issuing all tickets at once, and be requiring that all attendees confirm their attendance 10 days before the event. You’ll be sent an e-mail with an RSVP link to confirm you attendance. If you fail to RSVP your ticket may be reallocated to someone one the waiting list.
